More resources for you IT professionals

The MS Canada folks seem to have a well kept secret going -- their IT Pro Connection Blog. It contains timely tips on everything a MS IT pro could need (whether living up here in the great white north or not), including a new podcast series on Office 2010, and technical posts on security and server migration. If you are living up here, you'll be able to find all the info you need about the EnergizeIT Week. (http://blogs.technet.com/canitpro/)

Good news for all of you IT contractors out there — jobs will grow in 2010

I just caught an article sighting how IT contractors and consultants will be in demand in 2010.

Its also nice to know that even though layoffs affected almost every industry, technology consultants, contractors and professional services organizations experienced gains in employment. Nicely done team.

You can read the full story in eWeek.

How many servers can you manage?

Just reading my daily dose of IT News and Info and can’t help but feel for the IT Admins who are stretched to the max. In CIO Insight's Trends Slideshow "Five CIOs Set Their Priorities for 2010", one CIO’s priority is Resource Optimization – i.e. stretching IT assets to the max including IT staff, hardware and software. On Data Center Knowledge, there’s a discussion about how many servers can each sysadmin be expected to manage. This one has many interesting comments relating to the types of servers and breadth of applications they provide. We'd like to hear about what you're managing, especially the things that make your admin life absolutely crazy.
